UBUNTU – THE SPIRIT OF HUMANITY

Thank you Paul Avins - Entrepreneur and Business Coach for recommending a great series on Netflix called The Playbook; it tracks coaches from different sports and reviews their story and what made them special. In the first episode basketball coach Doc Rivers led Boston to the championship and dealt with racism from their owner.

He describes his secret as ubuntu. It derives from the Zulus and means humanity and is often translated “I am, because we are” or “humanity towards others”. Nelson Mandela used it.

I believe the military has captured this spirit particularly well during the pandemic.
