Meet your Consultant, at least on Zoom/TEAMS.
Profile your consultant – will they deliver what you need? (I recommend Contribution Compass ).
Do you believe THEY believe they can fill your role?
Are they interested in a partnership or a transactional relationship (are you!?)
Do you actually need to recruit? Sort your house out before engaging.
Understand what is special about working for you. Your Consultant needs to know that.
Don’t delay your feedback – it’s a candidate-led market and you will lose good people.
Make sure your stage holders are on the same page before you engage an agency (we have a free JD proforma on request).
Take time over your job description – cover the skill, the natural behaviour and the culture you need.
Insist on doing a behavioural assessment before interviews (we recommend Contribution Compass).
There is ALWAYS a way to separate two candidates.
Treat the agency with respect. We are all people.
