He was talking about people’s experiences of moving jobs and difficult transitions. Like many veterans, I didn’t have a soft landing after I left the army, and it was a steep learning curve de-mobbing to civvy street; I didn’t feel prepared at all.
My next big transition came in 2001 when I decided to set up FRS and moving from employee to business owner was a big mind shift.
I speak to veterans every week going through similar shifts and bad hires can almost always be avoided by evaluating the following 3 things:
1. Match on skills & experience
2. Natural energy, which can be assessed through Contribution Compass
3. Culture fit
Get these 3 things right and you can avoid friction and the cost of a bad hire.
