FRS Paul Goes #365DRY For Charity

March 28, 2019

As well as raising much needed money for this excellent cause, Paul wants to increase awareness of the mental health issues and post-traumatic stress disorder that are experienced by serving and former members of our armed forces.

On a personal level, Paul has set himself this challenge so that he can:

  • prove to himself and others that alcohol is there for pleasure and it does not control him - that he drinks for pleasure, not to get drunk
  • demonstrate show that he has the mental fortitude to stop drinking whenever he wishes and that he does not need to drink to enjoy life

Paul Says: “Throughout my military career and on into civilian life I have used alcohol but I became aware recently that my intake had increased. I want to prove to myself that I am in control and at the same time increase public awareness of the issues surrounding mental health and alcohol reliance that many ex-Forces people experience.”

Paul has set up a Crowdfunding page for donations and all money raised through his #365DRY challenge will go to the Tommy Atkins Centre in Worcester who provide mental health support and treatment to Veterans. You can donate here.

Paul’s progress throughout the year can be followed via the Forces Recruitment Services social media channels and the hashtag #365DRY.
